8-DAY BENIN TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1 - Arrival at Cadjehoun International Airport, Cotonou. Transfer to a hotel in Cotonou for lunch or dinner. Overnight stay in Cotonou.
DAY 2 - Breakfast at the hotel followed by orientation. Travel to Porto-Novo by bus: Visit the Garden of Plants and Nature, Honmè Museum, the Obelisk of Zangbéto Kpakliyaou, the Statue of Toffa #1, and architectural buildings. Lunch at a restaurant in Porto-Novo.
Afternoon transfer to Adjohoun: Visit the Kpinkonzoun, Togbota, and Vazoun sacred forests. See Togbota's red-bellied monkeys (Zinkaka). Explore the Royal Palace and the Gogbo Canary Tank production site. Dinner and overnight stay in Adjohoun.
DAY 3 - Breakfast at the hotel. Expedition to Ganvié, "The Venice of Benin." Lunch at a restaurant in Ganvié. Afternoon transfer to Bohicon and Abomey: Visit the underground village of Agongointo. Dinner and overnight stay in Abomey.
DAY 4 - Visit the Historical Museum of Abomey. Explore the Royal Tombs (closed on Houndjolo market days) and the Goho Palace of King Behanzin. Afternoon transfer to Grand-Popo: Stop in Sè to visit pottery workshops. Dinner, entertainment, and overnight stay in Grand-Popo.
DAY 5 - Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the turtles and beach in Grand-Popo. Afternoon transfer to Possotomé: Explore the barter market. Dinner at a lakeside restaurant in Possotomé. Overnight stay in Grand-Popo.
DAY 6 - Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Ouidah: Visit the Python Temple, Zinsou Foundation Museum, Sacred Kpassè Forest, and the Ouidah History Museum. Dinner and overnight stay in Ouidah.
DAY 7 - Breakfast at the hotel. Morning free time. Lunch in Ouidah. Afternoon activities: Visit the Slave Route. Learn traditional salt and "Sodabi" alcohol preparation with locals (great souvenirs!). Attend a Zangbéto dance performance. Dinner and overnight stay in Ouidah.
DAY 8 - Breakfast at the hotel. Pack and depart for Cotonou. Free day for shopping. Transfer to Cadjehoun International Airport for departure.
